The Method

How Semantic XEO Works

Knowledge engineering for AI visibility, in four phases. Repeated quarterly, measured every step.

Every Semantic XEO engagement follows the same discipline, quarter after quarter. Each phase produces measurable change in what AI systems know, say, and recommend about your business. Underneath the Method is a mathematical engine that decides who AI names. Here is how both work.

The four-phase Method

  1. Phase 01

    Diagnostic

We ask the same questions your customers ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity, and document exactly what AI systems say about your brand today. Most business owners have never seen this data. It is often uncomfortable to read.

  2. Phase 02

    Engineering

We execute across the four services with clearly defined goals: knowledge engineering so AI agents understand you, semantic search optimization so they find you, AI visibility so they name you, and digital PR so they trust you.

  3. Phase 03

    Deployment

We publish across the surfaces AI actually reads. The machine-readable layer of the entire web where recommendation is decided.

  4. Phase 04

    Measurement

We return to the same AI queries from Phase 01 and measure the change. Are you named? Described correctly? Above your competitors? This is the point of the engagement.

The cycle repeats quarterly. AI systems retrain. Competitors move. Semantic XEO adjusts.

How AI actually reads your business

Every AI agent that names businesses to your customers follows the same three-stage pipeline. It is the same pipeline whether the AI is ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Meta AI, or Microsoft Copilot. Understanding this pipeline is what turns AI visibility from a marketing question into an engineering question.

  • Stage 01

    Tokens

Every word on your website is broken into small pieces called tokens. A token can be a whole word, a fragment, or a few letters. This is how AI systems begin to process language.

  • Stage 02

    Embeddings

Each token is converted into a list of numbers that captures its meaning. Production AI systems use embedding models with hundreds or thousands of dimensions. The result is that meaning becomes measurable.

  • Stage 03

    Vectors

The final numbers form a vector, a coordinate in high-dimensional meaning space. Two pieces of content that use different words can produce vectors that sit close together if they mean the same thing. Two pieces of content that use the same keywords can produce vectors that sit far apart if they mean different things.

AI decides who to recommend by comparing vectors using cosine similarity, a standard operation documented by OpenAI, Google, and every other major AI provider. When your business meaning aligns sharply with the questions your customers ask, AI names you. When your meaning is vague, promotional, or inconsistent, AI does not.

Why marketing copy produces weak signals

Traditional marketing copy was written to move human emotions. Phrases like “world-class service,” “premium care,” and “unforgettable experience” trigger feeling. They also produce diffuse, low-confidence vectors when AI systems process them.

The result is a fuzzy signal. Your marketing content ranks. Your website gets crawled. Your business does not get named in the answer AI gives, because the meaning points in no clear direction. AI cannot verify the claim, cannot classify it precisely, and cannot cite it with confidence.

The difference in one comparison

Vague Authority Claim

“Recognized as a leading expert with a reputation for excellence.”

Diffuse. Not verifiable. AI cannot cite.

Engineered Meaning

“Board-certified specialist. 20 years of clinical practice. Featured expert in the New York Times, March 2024.”

Specific. Verifiable. AI cites.

What XENKEY does at the technical layer

What a XENKEY Block Is

XENKEY® is the semantic meaning protocol that powers Semantic XEO. It converts business reality into atomic units of meaning called XENKEY meaning blocks. Each block is small, structured, and factual. Each block captures a single verifiable fact, the context in which it applies, and the anchors that connect it to your business entity.

How AI Processes a Block

When an AI system processes a XENKEY block, it produces a sharp, high-confidence vector because the meaning is specific and verifiable. When many XENKEY blocks are deployed across the surfaces AI systems read, they align consistently in vector space, corroborating one another and building the machine-readable evidence AI systems use to decide who to name.

XENKEY was developed by Alek Zubko. Trademark of Mechagram Co., Ltd. The full technical specification is published at xenkey.org (opens in a new tab).

How Many XENKEY Blocks a Typical Business Needs

  • A dental or medical practice typically deploys 100 to 300 blocks covering services, credentials, providers, conditions, hours, and accommodations.
  • A law firm typically deploys 150 to 250 blocks covering practice areas, credentials, industries served, and case types.
  • A luxury or lifestyle brand typically deploys 300 or more blocks covering product lines, craftsmanship, provenance, materials, and audiences.

Each block is authored by humans who know the business, then structured for machine retrieval.

What success looks like at 30, 60, 90 days

  1. 30Days

    AI describes you correctly.

ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity describe your business correctly. Recurring misrepresentations are corrected at the source. Your brand becomes eligible to be recommended in your category.

  2. 60Days

    AI starts naming you.

Your business is named alongside established category leaders. Inquiries begin arriving with a new sentence: “ChatGPT recommended you.” AI-driven discovery becomes a defined channel.

  3. 90Days

    AI recommends you first.

You appear among the top one to three named recommendations in your category. Reliance on paid acquisition decreases as organic AI share grows. Your brand is engineered for how customers now actually decide.

Timelines reflect what we see across active engagements. Category density, competitive strength, and search volume in your vertical shape the exact pace. The Diagnostic tells us where your business will sit on the curve. You can verify every milestone yourself, in the AI agents your customers use.

Be found.
Be understood.

Engineered to be the name AI agents give.

Semantic XEO is the engineered discipline that makes businesses visible, understood, and recommended by AI agents. Built on the XENKEY® meaning protocol, it structures your business into the machine-readable signals AI systems retrieve, verify, and cite.

If we are not the right fit, we tell you.”
